Alan J. Rechter earned his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of South Florida and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from
Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude – second in his class. He completed his internship in general surgery and his residency
in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston after serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Rechter was awarded the prestigious AO
International Fellowship that added more focused training in trauma, hand and joint reconstructive surgery, completed in Oberhausen, Germany. He is licensed to
practice medicine and surgery in Texas and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Rechter’s awards include Highest Grade Point Average in Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, Themis National Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor
Society, Merck Award for Academic Achievement for the #1 and #2 ranked U.S. medical school graduates, and the Rhone-Poulene Rorer Orthopaedic Surgeons Resident’s
Scholarship.
Dr. Rechter is an active Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Surgery
and Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Catherine’s Hospital as well as Vice-President of the medical staff. He is one of the elite orthopaedic trauma surgeons
handling severe injuries associated with Life Flight and Hermann Hospital. He also retains active privileges at other area hospitals and is very active on the
lecture circuit for community education. He is an assistant clinical professor in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Dr. Rechter practices general orthopaedics, which encompasses all aspects of diagnosis and treatment to injuries, congenital defects and
acquired degeneration to the human bodies’ bones and joints. Much of his practice is devoted to arthroscopic (minimally invasive) repair of the knee, shoulder and
ankle; joint replacement surgery; surgery of the hand and foot; and, repair of acutely traumatized limbs or delayed reconstruction for salvage of the extremity.
